ProKalm

ProKalm is an innovation in helping horses and ponies perform to their potential using a unique formulation that acts rapidly in as little as 30 minutes with the effects  lasting up to 8 hours. At low intake ProKalm is perfect for “taking the edge off”. At moderate and high intake, ProKalm  is suitable for more demanding situations. ProKalm is available as a feed supplement or as a syringe and can be fed as required, either for isolated situations or as a daily feed to achieve consistent performance.

What?
An innovation in helping horses and ponies perform to their potential and may aid concentration. Fast acting and effective supplement with results in as little as 30 minutes from feeding. A unique combination of herb extracts and amino acids and does not contain valerian, magnesium or tryptophan. ProKalm does not sedate or affect gait or performance.

Why?
How ever well you manage horses, they are all individuals and at times may need that little extra nutritional support.

When?
ProKalm is perfect for “taking the edge off” horses. At moderate and high intake ProKalm is suitable for more demanding situations  ProKalm can be fed as required, either for an isolated situation such as competing or can be fed daily.

How?
ProKalm is best given in feed on a regular basis. The effects of a single feed can begin within 30 minutes and last for up to 8 hours. The amount given can be varied to get the desired effect. Some horses require a higher rate than others. For a strong effect, e.g. to clip, shoe, box or when first turning out, give 2-4 scoops for a 500kg horses in feed or give one full syringe. For a mild-moderate effect , e.g. for riding, travelling, etc give 1-2 scoops for a 500kg horse in feed or give one full syringe around 1-2h before peak effect is required. For sustained results over time, give 1 to 2 scoops for a 500kg horse in both morning and evening feeds for at least 7 days. For first time use we strongly recommend feeding 2 x 25ml scoops per day split between morning and evening feed for a 500kg horse. If the effect is too strong then reduce the feeding rate.

If after 1-2 days the effect is not strong enough then increase to 4 x 25ml scoops per day and up to 6 x 25ml scoops per day after a further 1-2 days

Gut Balancer

What?
Gut Balancer is a balanced combination of Pre and Pro-Biotics and contains a specially protected live yeast which ensures that high enough numbers of live yeast cells reach the hindgut to beneficially influence hindgut function. The rate at which it is fed also delivers the highest amount of yeast compared to any other product on the market ensuring it is highly and rapidly effective. Gut Balancer also contains a source of mannanoligosaccharide (MOS) and betaglucans, which help stimulate the growth of good bacteria and bind mycotoxins produced by fungal contamination of feed. In two studies, results were seen in just 7 days.

Why?
Hindgut disturbance in horses can lead to serious problems if not managed effectively. Unlike us, horses rely heavily on fermentation by a number of different species of bacteria to digest plant material in the large intestine. Changes in diet, stress and exercise can lead to imbalances between the different species of bacteria, which in turn can upset the environment in the hindgut and cause overgrowth of bad bacteria. Fungal toxins (mycotoxins) which are common feed contaminants, but difficult or impossible to detect without laboratory testing, can lead to growth impairment, poor condition, poor health and poor performance.

Why is our Gut Balancer Unique?
Gut Balancer contains a protected live yeast of the species
Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The yeast inside each granule is protected from acidity, heat and moisture by a layer of dead yeast cells which enhances stability meaning that more yeast cells reach the hindgut alive. Micro-organisms such as yeast which have a beneficial effect on health when eaten are often referred to as probiotics; when translated this means literally “for life”. In the hindgut, probiotics such as specific species of yeasts if fed in sufficient amounts, and in a formulation that ensure they survive the conditions in the stomach and small intestines, can influence the balance between good and bad bacterial species. By using our unique protection system, we ensure the optimum level of live yeast reaches the hindgut without being affected by the conditions above. The benefits include stabilisation of the conditions in the large intestine resulting in the stimulation of natural fermentative activity, improving fibre digestion helping to realise and unlock potential from forages such as hay and haylage and aid the efficiency of digestion.

When?
Gut Balancer should be fed on a daily basis to help support a healthy Gastrointestinal (GI) tract and to help support gut health and aid digestion. It is also ideal for older horses, poor doers and horses and ponies that lose condition at any time of year. Gut Balancer may also be fed to horses or ponies with GI disturbance and at times of increased risk of GI disturbance such as increased stress, travelling, competition, change of yard or a change in hay or feed etc.

Gastrokind

GastroKind is a natural, nutritional formula developed by the leading veterinary scientists, nutritionists and vets. The unique formula promotes a healthy gastric environment, soothes the stomach walls, helps control acidity and supports the natural anti-inflammatory processes in the gut.

Gastrokind can be fed to all horses during or following veterinary treatment to help encourage a healthy stomach environment and is a natural alternative to maintain a healthy gut.

What’s inside?
Ficus glomerata extract - Ficus glomerata or Cluster Fig is an evergreen or deciduous tree and found all over India and Southeast Asia. Traditionally in Asian countries compounds in the fruit are extremely high in natural phenolics, flavonoids, phytosterols and terpenoids and have high antioxidant capacity (Eshwarappa et al. 2015). Studies using an extract of Ficus glomerata have been shown to support the stomach lining, promote a healthy gastric environment and help control acidity.

Apple Pectin & Lecithin - Pectin-lecithin complexes have been studied in horses and support the total mucus concentration in gastric juice (Koller et al. 2010). Mucus helps protect the stomach lining from acid. A study in horses demonstrated that the combination of magnesium hydroxide, a pectin-lecithin complex and Saccharomyces cerevisiae can support a healthy stomach.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae – Yeast cells are high in a small protein called thioredoxin. Thioredoxin is found in all mammal cells and is a powerful antioxidant. Recent studies have shown that oral administration of thioredoxin support the gastric lining (mucosa)

MgOH – Magnesium hydroxide when used in combination with a pectin-lecithin formulation and Saccharomyces cerevisiae can support a healthy stomach.

Alfalfa – Alfalfa has buffering capacity which means it can help maintain the stomach walls. Studies have shown that alfalfa when used for this purpose has a greater effect compared with horses fed Bermuda grass hay. Alfalfa also has an important role in ensuring palatability, keep the active ingredients evenly distributed throughout the supplement so that settling does not occur and keeping the moisture content of the supplement as low as possible which ensures the active ingredients are persevered in shipping and storage.

Vitamin C – Alongside Vitamin E, Vitamin C is the other major anti-oxidant. Vitamin C capacity also declines with age. Vitamin C has been shown to have a major role in supporting a healthy gastric environment. The antioxidant Vitamin C has also been shown to support the gastric lining whilst not interfering with the positive effects of omeprazole (Kohler et al. 2010) therefore ideal for use alongside veterinary treatment.

Vitamin E – Vitamin E has been shown to aid the natural process of reduction of stomach acidity, acid production and gastric acid volume (Cuevas et al, 2011; Huilgol et al. 2014). Vitamin E in high feeding rates has significant anti-oxidative action.

Selenium – Selenium is an important co-factor the effective function of antioxidant enzymes and Vitamins such as Vitamin E.

Respiraid

What?
Research shows that supplementing the horses diet with anti-oxidants aids the respiratory system and provides valuable support. In a recent study of 37 horses with compromised respiratory function, feeding RespirAid showed positive benefits in just 7 days. RespirAid also includes Vitamin C as Ascorbyl Monophosphate. This is the form of Vitamin C that is highly absorbed in horses, unlike Ascorbic Acid whi is commonly used in supplements but very poorlly absorbed by horses.

Why?
Respiratory stress is common for today’s horses. Environmental factors such as stabling conditions, bedding, quality of ventilation, stress, travelling, mixing with other horses and many other contributing elements can all harbour dust and fungal spores which accumulate in and irritate the sensitive lining of the lungs and respiratory tract.

When?
RespirAid should be fed on a daily basis to help support a healthy respiratory system. It is also ideal for horses and ponies that are stabled for long periods of time with restricted turnout, or exposed to stressful situations i.e travelling, competition, change of yard or a change in hay and feed.

Active Ingredient Levels 85g of RespirAid delivers: Vitamin C 10g (as Ascorbyl Monophosphate) Vitamin E 4000 IU MSM 20g Copper 100mg Zinc 400mg Manganese 400mg Selenium 1mg
